This song was written after studying Branching Streams Flow in the Darkness, a commentary on the Sandokai by Shunryu Suzuki, a Zen teacher who emigrated from Japan to America and helped establish Zen Buddhism there (1960s and on). The Sandokai is a classic poem/text in the Soto Zen tradition whose subject is opposites and going beyond duality and opposites. It is about viewing life with a sense of wholeness and inclusiveness.
Christina Green (vocal, guitar, harmonica) and Peter Anderson (accordion).
